The Milvus migrans or the Black Kite is an average sized raptor in the family Accipitridae of Old World Vultures, which also comprises of many other diurnal birds of prey. Distinct from others of the group, they are manipulators opportunistic hunters that don’t refer to moral principles and are more expected to scavenge. They expend a lot of time soaring and gliding high in the sun in search of prey. Their slanting wing and idiosyncratic forked tail make them easy to recognize. This kite is extensively distributed through the temperate and tropical parts of Eurasia and parts of Australasia and Oceania, with the moderate trmprate region populations tending to be migratory. Several subspecies are documented and previously had their own English names. The European populations are petite, but the South Asian population is very big.
